This series of guest cottages was inspired by a desire to merge the design characteristics of the traditional Karoo ‘box’ and Victorian Farmhouse which currently define the Karoo’s vernacular architecture. As a turnkey project, Mode Design Studio was responsible for the design and construction of the buildings as well as the co-ordination of the full interior design and installation. A continuous design approach extended to elements such as custom created furniture, artwork installations and landscaping which contributed to the creation of a cohesive development. Critical to the success of this project was the design team’s involvement at all levels which enabled effective management between the various contractors and suppliers.
